Staff at Corpus Christi Catholic High School in Fulwood, Lancashire, and at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Primary School in Liverpool are striking over plans to take them into academy trusts.
The National Education Union (NEU) stated that plans for every Catholic school in the Diocese of Lancaster to become academies will divert funds away from teaching and lead to teacher numbers being reduced. The Diocese of Lancaster stated the plans would guarantee "high-quality Catholic education" across the area.
The NEU’s secretary of Lancashire Ian Watkinson said: "Nobody takes strike action in a school lightly.
"Our members care passionately about their pupils, their schools and the Catholic communities they serve."
