The Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust has submitted an application for a temporary Promise School campus in Okehampton, Devon, for up to five years to bring pupils together on “a single, settled site,” the Tavistock Times Gazette has reported.

In February, the original Promise School building was destroyed by fire and pupils have since been accommodated across three separate sites: Okehampton College, Okehampton Primary School and St James Primary School.

The application seeks to erect temporary buildings on the old Promise School site and construct a canopy over the multi-use games area to provide sheltered outdoor space, which will also function as a school hall.

The development proposes three single-storey blocks with interlinked corridors, providing 18 classrooms and facilities to accommodate up to 90 pupils. There would also be a two-storey building in the centre of the site with the upper floor only accessible to staff.
